Experiencing Nature

This was an assignment for my Elements of Art class. We were supposed to create an unusual "survival kit"--basically, a sculpture of found objects that included the supplies to accomplish something. I chose spending time out in nature, so I included things like binoculars, field guide, camera etc.

I also made some clay dragonflies and caterpillars, paper butterflies, and tissue paper flowers. The bird is a decoy that I painted at summer camp. I covered a box with a collage of pictures and bits of nature writing for the base.
